Yummy, cookie.
Every now and again I get a real serious Jones going for some cookies. Not just any cookie, but fortuneless fortune cookies from a little shop in Chinatown down in San Francisco. So not only do I get a bag, or two, or three, of cookies, I get a nice day ride that always takes me someplace else. I’m not sure yet which is the reward, the cookies, or the ride, however, I do know I have had a good time every time I head out.
I have been going to this cookie shop off and on for years, now with the Bean, it is so much more fun and easier to navigate. Shoot just the fact I slide in and park directly at the front door of the shop is worth the ride. It used to be when I would go in the car, finding someplace to park within a 2-mile (3.2 km) radius was close to impossible. Golden Gate Cookie Factory is located on this little tiny alleyway that is just wide enough for a car to go down. You are not supposed to park there because it is so narrow and people are typically crowded down the alley waiting to get cookies or go into the other shops there. So Bean and I only stop long enough to run in and grab cookies.
Bag those Cookies to Go
When you buy a couple of bags of cookies they always put the plastic bags in a cute little shopping bag and then toss in a hand full of fresh hot cookies. This is both great and somewhat of a hassle, remember parking in that alley? The first thing I need to do is put the cookies in the Big Daddy trunk, and this means I take the cookie bags out of the cookie shopping bag. And those nice hot handful of cookies, ya, I need to pound them down whilst I’m standing there packing. Thank heavens I have a big mouth… because between the people going up and down the alley, and every now and then somebody else trying to get through in a car, it gets pretty touch and go.
And now for for my next trick…
San Francisco is an amazing place to ride a motorcycle. Going in and out of the city drivers can be a challenge, and stopping on those steep hills is fun. Oh, dodging trolley cars and buses, that gets the blood going as well. All this and I forgot to mention the trolley tracks are usually slicker than snot and love to grab your front tire. Still and all riding Bean is a blast through the city, wheelie up the hills, fly down them, try not to smash into all the crazies running around. Next run I will have some video, however, here are some nice pictures.
So much to Sea
Blasting around town is fun, blasting around heading out of town is awesome. Like I said early on, the cookies are only half the fun. Depending on which exit I take to head out of San Francisco, north or south comes down to how much daytime I have left and if I want to deal with traffic. When I head north it is all about the ride, beautiful views, coastline towns, and things to sea…
Turn Left, Marin Headlands, right, Sausalito
When I head north I cross the Golden Gate Bridge and as soon as I cross over I am confronted with my first choice, do I go left and up the coast towards the Marin Headlands? Or do I take a right and go down through Sausalito to look at the sailboats. Okay, that is an easy one, this time I go right, next time I go left, sometimes do a loopback and do both.
So what is next for the Bean, stay tuned and see… Cheers and as always kind regards
