Here are some of the videos I shot with my buddies Cory, Matt, and Curtis. You need to start the new year with a bang and what better way to start than to play cat and mouse with a couple of friends who are GSA riders and pros. Fast, dirty, interesting, yup, all of the above.
As I move forward with this website you will start to see more and more videos added. I’m starting to get pretty good with my video, well, not pretty good, more like okay. At least when I remember to clean off the lens, point it in the correct direction, make sure I have plenty of memory cards, and turn it on at the right times.
Only some of those things I got right this time out, but like my videos, my editing is getting better as well. I have it down to about a 2 to 36 ratio, 2 hours of video, to what seems like 36 hours of editing. This brings me around to my point, this time on this post instead of me rambling on and on I am going to bring you along.
The Route
Below is a map of the route that we took. As you can see although I am calling this post the Napa Wine Country Ride – the fun way ride, we covered a lot more territory than just around Napa. The route we took had plenty of turns and twisties, smooth and fast sections, muddy and slick conditions, not to mention frozen and icy places, so what more could you ask for.
The day was clear as a bell and in the ’50s (about 10C). Cory, Matt, and Curtis all had BMW GSA’s and are all expert riders so the speeds were stupid fast. Personally, I like going slower and enjoying the scenery but if I did that with these guys I would not have seen them from the moment we met up.
Videos Ahead
I am going to start with this video because you can see what beautiful topography we had to ride past on our way in.
The fun on this ride happened from the moment we got off the main freeways and started back into the back roads. So what kind of ride was this? Fast, dirty, interesting, yup, all of the above.
Dirt road ahead
So, you may axe, was the whole ride a mix of pavement and bad road? Well in a word, nope. As we rode down the less beaten track all eyes were peeled and on the lookout for any interesting side rode no matter how dubious it looked. And when we found one we took it just to see how much trouble we could make for each other.
Riders on the storm…
So who is this motley crew? Cory, my brother is the most expert of the expert crew you see here and typically is the guy out in front and the biggest hooligan of the bunch.
Matt is Cory’s friend since WAY back and the guy who has the most experience going places. His Facebook is just amazing and packed with pictures and videos. A must-see for sure. Matt is just barely in second place to Cory for his hooligan antics, never turn your back on him if there is a big puddle nearby.
Curtis is, well Curtis, the most expert at being a really good guy who can ride with these other guys. Just don’t ask him about the coasting contest and his downshift and his ‘other GSA’…
Thanks for bringing that fun day to life for the rest of us, been wanting to ride my GSA up there and glad to get a sneek pre-view. Though I’d likely be zoning on the scenery and vibes vs adrenaline (i.e., I’d be the slow poke).
Not to worry about being slow, I like slow it fits my personality. Or was that mentality…
