Of course, this has to be the No Fooling Ride as it happened on April Fools Day. However, as long as it has taken me to get it onto this page it should perhaps be called ‘The It’s About Dang Time Ride’…
Excuses, excuses…
One of the things, that takes me so long to get these pages up is that I have an abundance of great material from some truly great rides. I’m lucky to have such great riding partners and great places to ride.
Matt the Marvelous
I have mentioned Matt before because we have gone on several other great rides. This is because besides being one of my regular riding partners and a long-time friend Matt, who I call Matt the Marvelous, and whom, my brother calls, Matt the Misgevious, is by trade a surveyor with a hobby of charting out some of the most amazing rides imaginable.
I mean this guy comes up with rides everywhere that are off the charts fun, and equal parts exciting, dangerous, beautiful, and amazing. Here is one of those rides which took place on April 1st.
Matt texted me that he had a ride that he wanted to try out, he told me that he had ridden some of the routes before and it was great, however, he wanted to try out a section that was different and much more advanced. He asked me if I was in…DUH of course I’m game.
And then there were four…
Now it is up to Matt to coordinate and wrangle up the usual cast of characters which includes my brother and Curtis, however, bro is a no go because of a work conflict. It sucks having to work for a living, but Curtis has a buddy, Jared that says he is in.
Our cast of cutups now is Matt on his GSA 1250 and is the tour guide, Curtis on his GSA 1250, we call him the snack master as he always has a trunk full of goodies to eat. Jared who rides a KTM 1290, and is the speed demon, and of course Gogo and the Bean, yours truly the friendly vagabond, and spiritual leader of the group…
The plan is for us to meet up at the first turn-off on our journey off the freeway which happens to conveniently have a nice coffee shop there. Matt and I are there first followed by Curtis and Jared shortly after. We have our coffee and morning snack, talk about the general route for the ride and then attempt to get our communication working between us.
Coffee and communication
Okay, the ONLY big fail of the day was on syncing up our comm. links and that I didn’t even think to take pre-ride pictures/evidence of us sitting at the coffee shop eating so below is what it looked like down the road. So I guess next time I won’t forget the evidence and somebody will figure out how to get all of our comm. links talking.
So much to see
We covered a huge variety of scenery in our ride. Rivers, lakes, burned areas, lush green bands, and little hole-in-the-wall towns over the course of our roughly seven and half hour ride.
Videos Part 1,2,3 or whatever…
Along with the pictures that I captured of this ride I have some nice videos of some gorgeous countryside. As Matt was our tour guide he is out front for most of the videos being that he ‘allegedly’ knows where we are going. Through the miracle of good editing or in this case my editing I have taken out all the u-turns we make and now it looks like a well-organized trip.
The Road In
This is the first part of our trip. As there are long stretches of straight boring road I have mostly cut them out and tried to get down to just the good parts. So here is ‘Part One’.
Now that I have you warmed up with the ride let’s get to the other parts of the ride.
But Wait, There’s More…
We covered a lot of territory on this ride and it kept getting better and better.
A few u-turns as in life are good. Allowing one to get what they missed.
Great story and funny.. 😊
As they say on the TV infomercials, “But wait, there’s more”. Keep watching as I keep adding on to our ride. So many miles, so many smiles…
